Prevent Pendrive/PCs/laptops from virus !

Friends many of your PC/laptop's normally gets virus because of Pen Drives or USB devices (Even PCs who are not connected to network ). Some Virus like Ravmon Virus , Heap41a worm which are not detected by anti virus normally spreads mostly by the Pen Drives . In such a case what can you do to prevent your PC from getting infected with Virus that spreads through USB devices or Pen Drives ?

You can protect your PC by just following the simple steps below . It won't take much time. 

 

Connect your Pen Drive or USB drive to your computer . Now a dialogue window will popup asking you to choose among the options as shown in the figure. 

     

 

 Don't choose any of them , Just simply click Cancel.             

 ->*Now go to Start--> Run and type cmd to open the Command Prompt window ..                                  

 ->*Now go to My Computer and Check the Drive letter of your USB drive or Pen Drive. ( E.g. If it is written Kingston        (I:) , then I: will be the drive letter ..)                                                  

 >*In the Command Window ( cmd ) , type the drive letter: and Hit Enter ..                                                                                                                        

*Now type dir/w/o/a/p and Hit Enter  

*You will get a list of files . In the list , search if anyone of the following do exist   

      1.        Autorun.inf

      2.        New Folder.exe

      3.        Bha.vbs

      4.        Iexplore.vbs

      5.        Info.exe

      6.        New_Folder.exe 

      7.        Ravmon.exe 

      8.        RVHost.exe or any other files with .exe Extension .   

If you find any one of the files above , Run the command attrib -h -r -s -a *.* and Hit Enter. 

Now Delete each File using the following Command del filename ( E.g del autorun.inf ) . 

That's it . Now just scan your USB drive with the anti virus you have to ensure that you made your Pen Drive free of Virus .

To know whether ur system is infected just type C:\heap41a in the address bar...

if there is a folder named heap41a, then  ur system is infected...

(AVAST antivirus is the best solution for this worm...) symantec also works.

Follow these steps : ->
* Go to Start ==> Run ==>> Type regedit, hit enter
* Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> Software -> Yahoo -> pager -> Test
* On the right pane ==>> right-click and choose new Dword value .
* Rename it as Plural.
* Double click and assign a decimal value of 1.
* Now close registry and restart yahoo messenger.
* For signing in with new id open another messenger .

We all copy various data by using ctrl+c /Copy for pasting elsewhere.
This copied data is stored on clipboard and is accessible over the net by a combination of Javascripts and ASP.

Just try this:
1) Copy any text by ctrl+c
2) Click the Link: http://www.friendlycanadian.com/applications/clipboard.htm
3) You will see the text you copied on the Screen which wasaccessed by this web page.

Moral:-
Do not keep sensitive data (like passwords, creditcard numbers, PIN etc.) in the clipboard while surfing the web. It is extremely easy to extract the text stored in the clipboard to steal your sensitive information. If sufficient data is stored by mistake it would give away confidential and important information without you knowing about it.

To avoid this, follow these steps:
1. Go to internet options->security
2. Press custom level
3. In the security settings, select disable under Allow paste operations via script.Now the contents of your clipboard are safe.

Pass this information on to create an awareness of the same.

Avoid slow restarting of ur PC....

To avoid slow restarting of ur PC use 'warmboot 'to do this click restart by pressing shift key on desktop.....so the PC restarts only windows not any other software runningin windowsXP... click shift and give restart......

To speed up your hard disk speed we need to configure a special buffer in the computer's memory in order to enable it to better deal with interrupts made from the disk.
This tip is only recommended if you have 256MB RAM or higher.......
Follow these steps:-
Run SYSEDIT.EXE from the Run command.....
Expand the system.ini file window.......
Scroll down almost to the end of the file till you find a line called [386enh].....
Press Enter to make one blank line, and in that line type......Irq14=4096
Note: This line IS CASE SENSITIVE!!!Click on the File menu, then choose Save.....
Close SYSEDIT and reboot your computer.....Done.
Speed improvement will be noticed after the computer reboots.
Update:
The most speed improvement is visible with IDE drives, however there are reports that this tweak also does good for SCSI disks. In any case, it won't harm your system, so why not try it yourself and let me know what you find......
